‘Tis the Season: CompSAt Xmas Wishlists

by Dickson Lua

Christmas is just around the corner—approximately a month from when I started writing this article. Seeing as this article is about Christmas Wishlists, I just decided to interview a few people and get an idea of what they wanted.

The Bosses

I started by interviewing two of my bosses: Jonathan Matias from Wildcard, and Bea Danseco from CompSAt. For those of you who don’t know, Jaudric is the head of Wildcard, while Bea is the Secretary General for CompSAt. This makes both of them my bosses … good bosses at that . 😀

So first, I interviewed Jonathan Audric Miel Matias, better known as Jaudric, the Mystery Man.

D: What are some of the gadgets or software you’ve been keeping your eye on for this Christmas? Any reasons why?

J:  “I’m definitely interested in two phones: the Nokia Lumia 920 (because it is a beautiful phone and the OS is definitely unique), Nexus 4 (it has awesome specs and it’s cheaper than many of its competitors), and Wii U (who doesn’t love a next gen console?).”

D:  What are some of the things you have on your Christmas Wishlist for this year and why?

J: “I have mostly games on my wishlist. *Haha* Mostly PC games and Xbox 360 games like Hitman: Absolution, The Walking Dead games, Forza Horizon.”

D: What is the thing you want to have most this Christmas? :> *ahem*

J: “A new Wii U. I want to play Zelda in HD–I have always dreamed of playing Zelda in HD. Getting one this year would mean I’m ready for any awesome Nintendo games that come out!”

And that’s pretty much Jaudric’s Christmas Wishlist for this year, sad to say, I was disappointed by his answer to the third question – however, I think that those who know Jaudric are well aware of what he really wants the most for this Christmas :>

(Note from the Editor-in-Chief: I’m giving you a get-out-of-jail-free card this time– Jaudric :)))

As for Bea, she told me that she wanted time the most.

Bea: “I want TIME :)), but an iPad would be awesome or PS3 🙁 sadly hindi siya ROFL prize :(( PS3 talaga pero yun time… cause medyo satisfied naman ako with what I have :)) I have almost everything I want but sometimes the problem is I don’t have time for them :)) Them as in my books 🙁 bili ako ng bili pero medyo wala akong nababasa recently since wala masyadong time :)) ”

(NOTE: Speaking of which, you guys should buy tickets for ROFL, because even if PS3 isn’t one of the prizes, there are tons of other good stuff that are in store for you in ROFL this coming December. )

The Friendly

After interviewing my bosses, I thought it was time to interview two people from my block. I chose them because I think they have quite a good number of friends, and interviewing them this way will give their friends an easier time picking a gift for them – one of their friends being me :>

The first person I chose was Jezreel Montehermoso, better known as Jez; this was because of the aforementioned reasons above, as well as the fact that she is such a great person to be with. From my experience, having Jezreel in any occasion, whether it is during class, lunch time, or an outing, makes everything a whole lot better. This is also why I think she has a good number of friends who want to give her a gift.

Now then, since this isn’t a Member of the Month Article, let’s get on with it and go to the interview.

D: What are some of the gadgets or software you’ve been keeping your eye on for this Christmas? Any reasons why?

Jez:“I’ve always wanted my own camera. I don’t really mind if it is a DSLR camera or a point-and-shoot camera. As long as I can use it to take pictures, I’m fine with it. I want my own camera because taking photographs is one of the many things I do for fun so it bums me down knowing that I have to borrow a camera for me to be able to take pictures.”

D: What are some of the things you have on your Christmas Wishlist for this year and why?

Jez:“Hmm. There are lots of things I want for Christmas but I’ll just share my top 7.Jewelry, specifically an anklet or a bracelet.  A plain and simple one is enough.  A wrist watch, I need it because I always lose track of time, especially during exams. A teddy bear, I want a big and cute one so that I have something  to hug when I sleep at night. Books, I love reading and enjoy mystery books. Clothes, but not super girly ones and definitely NOT PINK, maybe just shorts but not the super short ones, and a shirt or a blouse. Bags. I just want cute and small backpacks like the doggy bag that I used to bring to school all the time. Colored pens, so that I have something to use in writing on my planner.”

D: What is the thing you want to have most this Christmas? :>

Jez:“I’d like that no one would spend Christmas alone. Christmas is the season to be jolly. No one can be jolly being alone. Whether it be with family or friends, it’s always nice to have someone with on Christmas.”

Now, the other person I picked is similar to Jez in the sense that he makes everything a whole lot better when you’re with him. This person is none other than Arjo Mejilla, or Kuya Arjo, as I like to call him.

D: What are some of the gadgets or software you’ve been keeping your eye on for this Christmas? Any reasons why?

Arjo: “Definitely a light hi-res camera ’cause I love taking pictures and making art but those big cameras aren’t safe for commuters like me, kinect with dance central because it’s a very healthy game. Software… something like a more recent version of PowerDirector or anything I can use for video editing ’cause I’ve always wanted to dabble in that but I don’t have equipment.”

D:  “What are some of the things you have on your Christmas Wishlist for this year and why?

Arjo: “On my Christmas wishlist this year… it’s more of nice clothes and accessories [like bowties], good books and yummy food because I know that everyone’s on a budget and these things are more immediate for me; I know I’ll use them already whereas the stuff I mentioned previously are leisurely technologies that would hinder my scholarly growth albeit heighten my personal growth. Also, those things I previously mentioned are things I want to be able to buy with my own earnings :)”

D: What is the thing you want to have most this Christmas? :>

Arjo: “The thing I want most this Christmas would definitely be leisure time. With leisure being a variable that could pertain to anything among literature [movies, downloaded TV shows, books], exercise, arts creation, sleep or bonding [with family or friends]”

The Pogi

For the third section of this article, I asked someone who I think looks fantastic. However, as fantastic as this person may be, he has chosen to remain anonymous :>

D: What are some of the gadgets or software you’ve been keeping your eye on for this Christmas? Any reasons why?

Anonymous: Hmm, for now, only the new Nokia Lumia. Sobrang cool kasi niya and it’s a Windows Smartphone, what more can you ask for?”

D: What are some of the things you have on your Christmas Wishlist for this year and why?

Anonymous: “Honestly, wala akong wishlist this year, aside from happiness and more people into my life :”>Di naman kasi ako extravagant na tao so ok na ako sa mga meron kong gadget, I just want non-material stuff at the moment.”

Closing

Christmas gifts are small trouble for some and big trouble for others.  If you want to give someone a gift, you want that person to like it, love it, or be able to use it. Either way, knowing someone’s Christmas Wishlist makes things a lot easier, because one, you don’t have to worry about getting something he or she might not want, and two, you’ll know exactly what to get that person for Christmas.

However, Christmas is not about the gifts nor is it about the food. It’s there to celebrate the birth of someone very special. So for this Christmas – as you celebrate together with your friends, family, or yourself (God forbid you celebrate it alone) I hope you all remember the true meaning of this occasion and wish you a Merry Christmas.

Now, here are some messages coming from the people that I interviewed.

Arjo: “HAVE A REMARKABLE HOLIDAY SEASON, COMPSAT!! ESPECIALLY THE JUNIORS!!! xD shout out to my block and to my nn offspring <3”

Anonymous: “Thank you CompSAt, for giving me that “family” experience. Oh and also, no regrets. Ahihi”

Jaudric: “Contrary to all of the things I have listed, it’s the intention behind a gift that counts. 🙂 Never forget that.”

Jezreel:  “Hi friends! I’ll be waiting for your presents. =))) Hahaha. You now know the top 7 items on my wishlist XD Joke. Uhm. To everyone, enjoy your Christmas. Let go of the hatred you have in your hearts. Learn to forgive and forget. It may not yet be a new year, but it’s never too early to start anew. Be thankful of what you have, and also, share what you have to others.”

Merry Christmas, guys! 😀
